It’s the line you hear every Valentine’s Day from your true love– if your true love is romantic comedies. During the heart-covered era of Valentine’s Day, some prefer spending their holiday in the comfort of their own home with a romantic comedy.
There are plenty of romantic comedies out there. To help you choose the best film for your Feb. 14 rendezvous, this is a list comprised of the top five best romantic comedies according to IMDB, Vanity Fair, Rotten Tomatoes.
5. 13 Going on 30
This classic love story, with 37.3% of the RHS student body voting this as one of their favorite romantic comedies, comes in at number five of the best romantic comedies.
13 Going on 30 centers around a girl who changes from a teenager to an adult– in less than 24 hours. The teen, Jenna (Christa B. Allen), can’t get a boyfriend, despite her tries. Therefore, she dreams about being an adult. She morphs into her 30-year-old self (Jennifer Garner). She soon realizes, despite the age difference, there’s still plenty of dating problems.

4. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
39.2% of the RHS student body voted How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days as one of their favorite romantic comedies, making this rom-com ranked as number four on our list.
It’s the story of Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey), an executive on a mission to make a woman fall in love with him within ten days. It’s also the story of Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), a columnist writing about how to make a man leave in ten days. Andie tries to find a man to use for her piece and stumbles upon Ben. As one can imagine, the rest went, well, not exactly according to plan.

3. 10 Things I Hate About You
Ranking in at third on our list is 10 Things I Hate About You, with 51% of those surveyed counting this rom-com classic as another favorite.
This movie revolves around the romance between an unlikely duo: Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) and Patrick Verona (the late Heath Ledger). Kat’s younger sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), can only date when Kat has a boyfriend. However, Kat isn’t too keen on the idea of a relationship; so, Kat is tricked into the idea of a romance with Patrick. Though the question remains, will Kat and Patrick find real love in a fake set-up?

2. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
This 2018 released Netflix classic is considered a top pick rom-com by 54.9% of those surveyed. Consequently, this film ranks second on our list.
Based on the book by Jenny Han, this Netflix original follows the romance of Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo). Lara Jean writes love letters to all her crushes, yet never mails them. One day, all the letters are sent out, including one to Peter and Lara Jean’s sister’s ex. With Peter’s conflicting feelings, a question about who sent the letters in the beginning, and an upset sister, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has it all.

With 58.8% of those surveyed saying this is a favorite, 50 First Dates comes in at number one.
The rom-com focuses on Henry, who is determined to win over Lucy. There is one small issue though: Lucy has short-term memory loss. Therefore every single day, Henry tries to win over Lucy and her family. Will Henry be able to make his love memorable enough for Lucy?
