As we’re approaching spring, Easter is the perfect time to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Easter is a well-celebrated holiday all over the world, that people of all ages enjoy. Like some people don’t know, Easter is an important Christian festival, this is when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lent season of fasting.
With Easter in just about a week, here are a few activities that you can participate in to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
1.Have An Easter Egg Hunt
As many young children participate in Easter egg hunts, it is shown to work on their cognitive skills while they use hand-eye coordination to pick up the egg and put it into the basket. This came from the story of resurrection where women found the empty tomb. This is one of the most common activities to do on Easter, and as simple as conducting this activity in your yard. RHS Freshman, Diesel Casey, said, “My favorite activity to do on Easter Day is to participate in an Easter Egg hunt with all of my cousins. This is my favorite because we can spend time together, and be outside during the springtime, just when it starts to get warm out.” As this is an activity that many may enjoy, these eggs also often have little gifts inside including candy or even small amounts of money.
2.Decorate Easter Eggs
An Easter egg is a symbol of resurrection. Dying and decorating Easter eggs can mark the end of the period of fasting. This originated from an egg being dyed red to resemble the blood that Christ shed during his crucifixion. Now, there is a variety of bright and dark colors used to dye Easter eggs. RHS Junior, Jonah Klenk, said, “It’s a tradition for my family and I to dye Easter eggs, such a quick and simple activity for a Holiday.” As this activity may require you to make a purchase, this is also one of the most common activities to do on Easter.
3.Watch Easter Movies
Watching movies is an activity you can always do, but what a great way to cap off your holiday weekend is watching an Easter movie. These holiday movies can make you understand Easter differently and enjoyably. A few of the most common Easter movies watched in the past few years consist of Hop, The Dog Who Saved Easter, and Peter Rabbit.
4.Festive Meals With Family And Friends
One of the best parts about Easter is seeing everyone dressed up and ready to eat after a great morning of church. Dressing up and going out to Easter Brunch can make you feel more connected towards the Easter holiday, and your traditions. Brunch is a popular Easter tradition with dishes such as deviled eggs, ham, lamb leg, and carrot cake.
5.Attend Church Services
As Easter is always on Sunday, the best thing you can do is go to church! Going to church can help you understand the real meaning behind Easter and make a great start to your day. A researcher on multiple different topics, Dr Amelia Baldwin said, “This significant event, historically attested to outside the church by many, is still having a great impact on our world 2,000 years later. It is this which gives Christians their hope.” This shows how Easter is still an important event today, and will continue to be throughout the years on.
Overall, don’t forget the reason for the holiday, and make sure you spend time with family and friends!
