British musician and former One Direction band member Liam Payne passed away on October 16, 2024 from falling off the third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, located in Argentina. The musician passed at 31-years-old. Moments before Payne’s death, a 911 call reported “an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”, referring to Payne but did not state his name directly.
Although the public is still waiting for confirmation, sources are unclear how exactly he fell off the balcony, it’s unknown if he jumped, accidentally fell, or was pushed. Payne’s newly released autopsy states his cause of death was, “polytrauma, internal and external bleeding” (Argentina National Prosecutors Office). He faced multiple traumatic injuries; forensic experts found 25 in total.
There is still an ongoing investigation into the musician’s death, but evidence indicates he was alone during this time. It’s reported that Payne was, “acting erratic before his death, yelling and destroying items in his hotel room.” (Deadline). By an initial toxicology report, it was discovered he was under the influence of alcohol and multiple drugs during the time of his death, police came across the alcohol and drugs when going through his hotel room. Other items found in his hotel room include a mobile phone and a lighter.
Liam Payne was a massive influence on many people. He was a huge part of the music industry and many childhoods. The musician is missed dearly by many friends, family, and followers. Payne’s band members from One Direction stated, “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”
