On Sunday, October 13, the Detroit Lions had an impressive 47 to 9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Although they won, they lost a very valuable player, Aiden Hutchinson.
Hutchinson unfortunately broke his tibia and fibula, he has recently gotten surgery and is expected a 4 to 6-month recovery. Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell stated, “Surgery went great.” Campbell wouldn’t be surprised if Hutchinson is ready to come back before the expected recovery time.
Although it hurts for the Lions to lose a key player, Campbell is confident that defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn will come up with a plan to make up for the loss of Hutchinson. Campbell stated, “We’ve been coaching here four years and he’s done everything in his power to work around any personnel we have and use the players that we have to get the most production we can.”
Campbell stated, “And we will be able to adapt to that. I have a lot of faith in that D-line room.” He explained that they may have to play a little bit differently defensively speaking, Hutchinson was a big part of that front line.
Campbell believes that defensive lineman Alim Mcneill could be a piece of that puzzle. He stated, “He’s one of those guys we’re going to lean on. It doesn’t have to be Superman, but we have to get that out of him every week, and he has that ability.”
RHS Junior Jesse Dees stated, “I believe that they can operate with the same level of efficiency they have been, I think it’ll hurt them to lose him, but they’ll be fine in the long run.” Dees has been a Lions fan his entire life, and he’s happy to see them doing well.
