A Man Draws Thousands of Carolers at Christmas
About 40 years ago, a man named Mike Pedersen purchased a building to fulfill his lifelong dream of restoring a pipe organ, then wondered how to achieve this dream. Pedersen didn’t have a wife or children, so he loves to invite people to join him at Christmas when he is playing music. At first people thought Pedersen was crazy for inviting people to sing with him, but over time many people started joining him to sing. Now Pedersen and his pipe organ have been playing for over 35 years and counting. People come from nearby towns across South Dakota and neighboring states such as Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa. Tens of thousands of people come to share the joy of holiday music with Pedersen.
