On Dec. 16th 2024, a Final Forms email was sent to Ross Local School District families discussing proposed school schedules for the next three years.
The 2025-2026 school year calendar starts with school beginning on the 18th of Aug., a big difference from the 8th of Aug. start date in the 2024-2025 school year. The Oct. fall break was eradicated. In Nov., Thanksgiving break was cut from five to three days.
Winter break remains the same, and school will end one day earlier than this school year, the 25th of May.
The email also included that the 2025-2026 school year was particularly challenging to plan. The message stated, “We did our best to arrange that calendar to the best of our ability with the collaboration of our teaching staff.”
The 2026-2027 school year begins on the 20th of Aug. Most of this school year is similar to the previous one. However, the 2026-2027 school year features a longer five day spring break with a “Conference Exchange” day extending it to six days for students. However, the price for this is that the school year will not end until May 31st.
The last proposed school calendar is for the 2027-2028 year, where school resumes on Aug. 19th. Once again, this school year is similar to the 2025-2026 school year. The only difference is that winter break will be 10 rather than 13 days.
The email also explained, “The 27-28 calendar was close to meeting all preferences, however we were unable to tie Spring Break to Easter based on the state’s required testing schedule.” In addition, in the 27-28 school year, the last day of school was pulled back to the 24th of May.
There are other differences between the calendar years that could not be covered in this article. For example, the dates and frequency of long weekends and other days off vary. To learn more, you can reference the links below.
