Watching TV, a student may question how realistic the character’s high school experiences actually are. As the screen shows teenagers laughing and cheering at games, dancing at prom and impressing everyone at a talent show, the watcher will compare what they see to their own experiences and deem them inferior.
Realistically, the perfect high school shown on TV is not going to be experienced by most students. However, having fun in high school is far from impossible. The best way to get the most out of your high school experience is simply to participate.
Sports games like football, basketball, and soccer are key parts of the high school experience. When asked about attending school sports games, RHS Junior Olivia Powers commented, “I really like to go to football games and basketball games. They are just a fun environment.”
Powers also mentioned, “We need to support our football players.”
In addition, school dances are commonly skipped. These events are iconic staples of American high school, but students still do not always want to attend them. At the very least, dances are a fun excuse to dress up and see your friends.
When asked about homecoming, RHS Hannah Neal stated, “It was a lot of fun!” She recalled, “When Jordan Reid and Stephanie won, we all ran towards them.”
When looking back at high school, a person wants to be able to recall good memories. In twenty years, when asked about your school prom, do you not want something to look back on? We should make the most of the days we have in this school
