As the NCAA Tournament begins, college basketball fans are getting pumped as they create their March Madness brackets. These brackets are a fun way for viewers to get involved with the tournament by deciding which of the 64 teams they believe will take home the champion title.
The bracket is broken up into six different rounds. The first round spanned between March 20 and March 21; this round determined which 32 teams continued further into the tournament. The second round spanned between March 22 and March 23; this round decided which teams would be titled the “Sweet 16”.
Once the “Sweet 16” teams are determined, the tournament games become closer than ever. The “Sweet 16” round spans between March 27 and March 28, and it decides which teams continue into the “Elite Eight”. From March 29 to March 30, the “Elite Eight” games will be played. These games determine the “Final Four” teams.
Since the “Final Four” games are nearing the end of the tournament, they are held on April 5 in a special stadium known as the “Alamodome” in San Antonio, TX. These games will decide which two teams will be facing each other during the NCAA Championship game, which is held on April 7 in the Alamodome.
Many of our Ross High School students have created their own brackets. Sophomore Brayden Meade shares that March Madness “…usually is a very fun time to watch each game as they all build off one another as the national championship approaches.”
Many people participate in March Madness just for the fun of it, and deciding which teams they think will dominate their bracket is based on the school’s old game statistics and a gut feeling. When asked if he had any previous knowledge of the teams before creating his bracket, RHS Freshman Ben Moeller stated, “Nope! It’s more fun this way.”
Our RHS Rambells are participating in a March Madness competition and we will keep our readers updated as a winner is determined. We hope our RHS students have the best of luck during this March Madness season, and we are looking forward to seeing who our NCAA Champion will be this year.
