On Friday, October 20, the Rams played their final football game of the season against Bellbrook, as the seniors say their final goodbyes to high school football.

For many, people think senior night is just a time to show off the accomplishments they have made. But really it’s a time to celebrate how far they have come and also a step into the future. The Rams have fought their very hardest to win their last game of  the season on senior night. But sadly, they did not win. In spite of this they didn’t make the playoffs. This left many coaches, players, fans, and even families devastated.

Bellbrook had 6 wins and 3 losses before playing the Rams, but now they have 7 wins. It was a complete blowout from Bellbrook to the Rams. With the score being 37-13.

During senior night, the students, along with their parents go onto the field and are recognized by their teammates, fans, and coaches. At this time, they would give them gifts, posters, or even balloons. It’s also a pleasant time to honor everything the seniors have accomplished not only on the field but academically and for the past 4 years of their lives.

Senior Justin Pence, who has played football for 8 years, was asked who he was most thankful for while playing his last season of high school football. Pence stated, “Coach Ratliff for advancing my football knowledge”. It is always a good thing to have a connection with one of your coaches. Having a strong bond with coaches allows them to influence athletes to have good physical, tactical, and technical skills. Trust is also a very important factor. By trusting your coach, you are letting them help you reach your fullest potential.

The football teams season was filled with ups and downs. While Pence will be missing his teammates and the special bonds he has made, at least he will know he has made great friends. Pence states, “We are a family because we work together to get to the same goal”.

Pence states that his biggest lesson learned from playing football is, “You can always give your time but you cannot get it back”.

Although the season ended on an unfavorable note. There is one thing that will stick with these senior football players forever, and that is the love that they have obtained from playing there hearts out in this sport.
