NASA Delayed to Land on the Moon Till 2026

After the space agency had already planned to send four astronauts to the moon, the astronauts now will be waiting another year before taking off and another two before landing on the moon.

Due to complications Nasa will not be sending these astronauts to the moon till 2025. NASA has sighted safety concerns on the spacecraft, as well as development issues. Coming with these complications NASA has been forced to set back. “Safety is our top priority.” NASA Administrator, Bill Nelson quotes.

NASA is relying heavily on private companies for its Artemis moon-landing program for astronauts, named after the mythological twin sister of Apollo. NASA is strictly making sure the ship is safe due to a multiple explosions over the gulf of Mexico. A third test flight is now planned for February 2025. This is the same kind of capsule that will carry astronauts to and from the moon, linking up with Starship in lunar orbit for the trip down to the surface and back up.

Twelve astronauts crossed the moon during the last trip in 1972. The competition back then was the Soviet Union, now it’s China. The Starship need to fill up its tank with fuel to orbit around Earth, before heading to the moon. SpaceX has estimated to need over 10 fuel transfers. The orbit fuel depot will handle the job. This total program has gone through over $93 billion and estimated to be more by 2025.
