Sports aren’t always new or just recently thought of. There are some that are older like wrestling, it’s also known as the worlds oldest olympic sport. This sport wasn’t recent at all, the latest it has been found is over 15,000 years ago during the egyptian ages. There were cave drawings found in France, but current wrestling has changed a bit. It WWE is a different kind of wrestling meant for entertainment and it’s called pro wrestling. Sport wrestling is still around, it is just less popular.

One of the students in Ross named Preston Walters, a freshman at RHS, joined the sport in K1. He had joined it when he was asked too because he enjoys watching WWE and he has stayed in since. During an interview with him, Walters stated,”I joined because I thought it was going to be like WWE, but it was nothing like that.” Preston plays sports wrestling compared to the pro wrestling the WWE does. Sport wrestling doesn’t have the same rules as pro wrestling.

Boxing is one of the oldest contact sports with wrestling just a little older. It dates back to 688 BCE and is still being played. Boxing is a one on one contact sport. The winner is decided by points from the judges. The refs can also decide a winner if one of them become unconscious, they decide if one can no longer fight. A opponent can resign or be disqualified as a way to end a match.

Archery is another sport that is really old. This dates back 20-70 thousand years ago. Archery is a competition of accuracy using a bow. The target is similar to darts but the point system is different. Each line is a new set of points with the amount getting larger as you get closer to the center.
