On Saturday March 16th 2024, a court battle was conducted at Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building in downtown Miami Florida. This case was to decide on how to deal with all of the violence going on in Miami Beach.

There is a new curfew mandate created to ensure public safety according to the Miami Beach city manager Alina Hudak.

On dailyitem.com Aaron Leibowitz stated,“City officials acted in good faith after seeing substantially larger crowds Thursday than they had seen last weekend deciding Friday morning to announce a midnight curfew for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.”

Dan Gelber, the mayor of Miami Beach Florida stated,“Over the last 3 weeks alone we have impounded over 70 firearms.”

This new curfew has not only affected restaurants, but bars and clubs. The bars have been ordered to stop serving alcohol at 6 pm.

Jamie Guirola on NBC news stated,“As you’ve mentioned as far as those restaurants are concerned a lot of there money for these bars on Ocean Drive comes after midnight.”

On thetravel.com, Article author Steffi Haenicke stated,“Miami is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful skyline views, making it a popular tourist destination.”

Gelber explains for years that he does not want spring break and does not ask for it either.

Gelber stated,“People coming here in large numbers, such large numbers that it creates an almost impossible situation for our Police.”

The city warned that anyone who chooses to violate the new curfew will risk arrest and criminal charges.
